Privacy-Friendly Website Analytics, Explained

Classic analytics tools set cookies, follow people across websites and send the data to an ad company. That is why they need consent banners in many countries, and why a growing share of visitors block them.

How cookieless analytics works

Instead of a permanent ID, each visit gets a daily anonymous hash built from information the browser already sends. It changes every day, so nobody can be tracked over time, yet you still get accurate visitor counts, top pages, sources, devices and countries.

What you still get

  • Live visitors and the pages they are on
  • Traffic sources, campaigns and UTM tags
  • Goals and funnels, such as “reached the thank-you page”
  • Click heatmaps and scroll depth
  • Weekly and monthly trends with anomaly alerts

For most small businesses, that is everything needed to make decisions, without the legal overhead.
